Steve Prusha
Strategic Systems Office
Office of the Chief Engineer

Stephen Prusha is currently Manager, Strategic Systems Office (SSO), within the Office of the Chief Engineer, at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Mr. Prusha is responsible for the development of new advanced engineering environments and methodologies, analytics for assessing and characterizing new complex systems and technologies, and risk modeling and management capabilities, supported by various sponsors at JPL, NASA, and other government agencies.

Mr. Prusha has over twenty-five years of experience in technology development, spacecraft design, model-based systems engineering, and project/program management. Prior to his current assignment, he managed several large technology projects, including the System Reasoning and Risk Management Project for NASA's Engineering for Complex Systems (ECS) Program, and led implementation of NASA's Cross-Enterprise Technology Development Program (CETDP) - at the time, the largest single space technology development program in NASA encompassing roughly $150 million/year of investments in a wide variety of spacecraft, instrument, and software technology.

Mr. Prusha also spent three years at NASA Headquarters managing technology flight experiments on the Space Shuttle and other spacecraft, and later led the Technology Flight Experiments Office at JPL. A Bioengineer by training, he began his career at JPL developing medical device spinoffs, including implantable batteries and technology for neural prostheses. He earned a M.Eng. and B.S. in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University.
